At Mylar & Loreta’s Restaurant, we want to wish women everywhere a happy Mother’s Day! In honour of this special day, we looked at some of the most famous “mother” figures from a few beloved literary works and determined what they might order if they came in for a delicious meal at our restaurant.
In the renowned literary work Anne of Green Gables (set right here in Canada), Marilla Cuthbert adopts the vivacious, spunky, and hilarious Anne with an “E.” A no-nonsense lady with a deep, warm heart who cherishes Anne until her last days, we think Marilla would order our mouthwatering strawberry pancakes, which come with two king-sized pancakes smothered in strawberry sauce.

Margaret March (Marmee)
In the beloved tale Little Women, Margaret March, who is lovingly referred to as Marmee, is the core of her family and manages to run a household with four daughters while her husband is away, help with war efforts, and teach her children to grow into strong, smart, and kind women. We think her favourite meal would be our Roasted Pork Specialty because it has all the nutrients, protein, and imagination needed for her growing girls.

In her witty novel Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen describes Mrs. Bennet as “a woman of mean understanding, little information, and uncertain temper.” Thanks to her lack of social tact, she acts as a comical presence who is willing to go to any length to marry her daughters off to rich gentlemen. Despite her idiosyncrasies, Mrs. Bennet remains convicted to doing what is best for her daughters. After a day of worrying about the marrying potential of her daughters, we believe Mrs. Bennet would sit down and order a piece of our decadent chocolate cake!
Miss Jennifer Honey
From the classic novel Matilda by Roald Dahl, this beautiful woman sees the light inside Matilda and goes out of her way to make sure she knows she is appreciated. A devoted teacher to each one of her students, Miss Honey helps Matilda escape her poor home life and move to an environment that will help her flourish. We think Miss Honey would enjoy our Whistle Dog because it is something she could share with Matilda to create a magical moment.

The Mother from Love You Forever
Despite her occasional aggravation at the way her son acts, this devoted mother continues to visit her child’s bedroom every night to hold him, sing a short lullaby to him, and promise her continual love. This book is sure to bring tears to anyone’s eyes and implies that a mother’s love is a lasting power instilled in every parent. What would this special mother order when she visits at our restaurant? Perhaps our comforting Traditional Roast Turkey Dinner.
