Canada Day has come and gone again. When the celebration dies down, you may be wishing Canada Day came more than once a year! However, there’s no reason why you can’t celebrate this great holiday and our great country all year long! Here are a few food-related activities you may want to try to celebrate Canada Day any day you want! These are just a few of our favourites:

•   Have a maple syrup-inspired meal—Nothing says Canada quite like delicious maple syrup! Host a pancake breakfast with your neighbours or try making maple syrup pie, sprinkling sweet potatoes with maple sugar, or glazing a rack of ribs with maple syrup.

•   Go to a local cheese shop—There’s nothing like fresh cheese from your local shop! Go try out a few samples or pick up a few pieces for a gourmet meal later on in the day.

•   Sample a few craft beers at your local brewery—Many towns and cities across Ontario are home to local breweries that make their own craft beers and wine. Take a few friends to your local brewery and enjoy a few drinks while you’re there.

•   Eat a beaver tail—A true Canadian specialty, a beaver tail is not what non-Canadians may think. Batches of dough are stretched by hand to resemble a beaver tail, fried, and then sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Yum!

•   Sample poutine—A French-Canadian classic, there’s no better way to end your Canada Day festivities than with a hearty serving of French fries, brown gravy, and cheese curds.

•   Enjoy a Caesar—Mix up a round of Caesars for your guests at your Canada Day barbecue. Typically made with vodka, this blend of tomato juice, clam broth, and Worcestershire sauce served with a wedge of lime and stalk of celery is sure to be a hit.
