You’ll love our local restaurant in the Collingwood area for its long and illustrious past, as well as home-cooked delights.
It only makes sense that a local restaurant in the Collingwood, Ontario area has a long and illustrious past full of lore and history to go with a fine menu of home-cooked meals. Here at Mylar & Loreta’s Restaurant, we are proud to be just that. Our building was first built in the 1850s to accommodate travelers. Although it has changed names, businesses, and owners a few times through the years, it has always been a “must stop” destination.
It first became a local restaurant in 1973 and got its current name in 1983. The name comes from a famous legend of Mylar, who arrived here about 100 years ago and then sent for his love, Loreta, but sadly her ship went down at sea. The legend goes that their love didn’t die and many say they still feel their love here.
We have everything you would want in a local restaurant, including the main dining room that accommodates up to 80 people and two smaller rooms for parties of 15 to 20. We also provide catering for special events. Because we are such a popular local restaurant with locals and tourists alike, we do recommend reservations.
If you have a hankering for home-cooked favourites such as roasted pork or traditional roast turkey, we hope you’ll come by to see us. We have them both on sandwiches at lunch and a full meal at dinner. We also offer some hearty breakfast options, including our very popular Loreta’s eggs benedict and Mylar’s platter. Make sure to leave room for dessert!
